There seems to be no end in sight to the ongoing drama at the public broadcaster
Now, fans of SABC 3’s prime time drama, High Rollers, will no longer get to see the likes of hunky actor Thapelo Mokoena and actress Jo-Anne Reyneke doing their thing because the SABC has canned the show.
The fictional casino drama is centered on Kings Casino owned by the three wealthy Kings brothers, Paul (Justin Strydom), David (Anthony Coleman) and TT (Fezile Mpela).
Even though the decision to cancel the production was announced in November, the show’s production company Rous House Productions (RHP) made a last-ditch attempt to interdict the public broadcaster but lady luck wasn’t on their side when their application was dismissed by the Pretoria High Court.
A statement issued by RHP in late December reads: “It is with a heavy heart that RHP has no choice but to stop the production of High Rollers on 12 January 2017, as stipulated in the SABC termination clause”.
It further states that over 100 employees contracted to RHP will sadly be without jobs in the New Year.
