September is Tourism Month and this year the province being focused on is the Free State.

DRUM got an opportunity last week to tour the province with South African Tourism, and here are the cool places we suggest you visit in Free State:

Basotho Cultural Village

Besides finding out about the Basotho culture and tasting their great food. The views from here are stunning. Its serene and ideal for that time away from the hustle and stress of city life.

Clarens

Clarens not only has magnificent views but it also boosts of the best in local retailers, there are no franchises allowed in Clarens so that means small cute boutique and exclusive quality stuff.

Thaba Lapeng Mountain Escape

This is one of the best places to picnic, and watch the sunset, and maybe a marriage proposal. It's situated very close to the Lesotho border.

Lekgalong la Mantsopa

This is where the grave of the legendary BaSotho prophetess Anna Mantsopa Makhetha is located. You could visit just to see touristy stuff or you could make it a spiritual retreat.

Gariep Dam

You can go horse riding, enjoy the weekend with family and friends at Forever Resorts and go for boat cruises all at Gariep dam.
