It’s a bitter-sweet moment for the basketball fraternity because Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant announced his plans to retire at the end of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) 2015-16 season.
In an interview on the American morning talk show Good Morning America, the 37-year-old basketballer revealed that he got an epiphany to retire during one of his morning meditation sessions.
“My mind wouldn’t drift towards the game all the time any more. And that’s when I started realising, ‘You know what? It’s getting close. It’s getting close’,” Bryant said in the interview.
Apart from the realisation, he also cites his many injuries throughout the seasons as another reason to retire.
